Rahdu was the name of a special young rhino that appeared in the Smurfs season 9 episode “The Golden Rhino”. As a "golden rhino", it can turn anything it touches into gold with its magical horn. Rhadu (actual gender unspecified) was one of the best animal friends of the boy Prince Pricari, whose parents were the king and queen of a South African tribe. In the episode, Prince Pricari used it to help him save the time-lost Smurfs from falling into the river near his tribe. After that incident, the Smurfs and Rhadu became good friends. However, it and Brainy Smurf were eventually captured in the forest by soldiers of Tamar, the greedy ruler of another and larger African tribe. His men used Rhadu's golden horn to turn Brainy to gold. Rahdu became a slave of Tamar’s. Its work is to turn all of Tamar’s belongings into gold. However, it was dangerous for Rahdu’s health as Tamar did not give it any magical berries which were the only food for restoring its energy after turning things into gold. After the news was sent to Prince Pricari and the remaining Smurfs, Handy Smurf, Clumsy Smurf, Prince Pricari and his two animal friends, Cubbi the lion cub and Stretch the baby giraffe, went to save them. Finally, they rescued Rahdu and Brainy, as well as Rahdu’s parents, which were locked up in Tamar’s prison. They sailed to the sea and tried to escape, but Tamar and his men pursued them in Tamar's own boat. Tamar almost caught up to them, but Rahdu and its parents saved themselves and their rescuers by turning the greedy king's ship to gold with their horns, causing it to sink into the ocean.
