Mrs. Sourberry is a character that appeared in "The Clockwork Smurf". She is King Gerard's elderly maidservant who is mostly seen in charge of cooking. During the time that Imperia had Gerard incarcerated in the dungeon, she was led to believe that Gerard was stricken with an illness that lasted three years. Later she saw Gerard after he had left the dungeon with Clockwork Smurf, but judging by his clothes, she neither recognized nor believed that he was the prince. It was only after he had returned to his kingdom with the Smurfs' help to expose his aunt Imperia's evil plot that Mrs. Sourberry finally realized Gerard, and since then has stayed as his maidservant.

She appears in various episodes when King Gerard is shown, mostly as a background character with few lines; in The Noble Stag, she was not aware of his second cousin, Malcom the Mean's, plans to take the throne by killing Gerard. In this, she searched the castle for his amulet at his command and did not return for the end of the episode.

The character's name is similar to that of the brutal wife of Mr. Sowerberry in Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist story, but the character herself shares no further similarity.
