Sassette Smurfling is one of the main characters of the 1981 Smurfs cartoon show, who has appeared on the show from Season 5 to the end, and a minor character of the Smurfs comics.
Character
She was the second female Smurf created by the magic formula Gargamel used to create Smurfette. However, the Smurflings who created her used a smaller amount of blue clay than Gargamel used for Smurfette, resulting in a female Smurfling.
Personality
Comic Book Version
As her name implies, Sassette is a chatty and curious Smurf who has the eccentricity of constantly asking questions throughout and wants to find out on whatās going on. During her debut appearance, Sassette was specifically curious about meeting everyone in the Smurf Village (including Gargamel when she was talking to Grouchy).
1981 TV Series Version
In the 1981 animated series, Sassette's personality there differs from the comic portrayals of her. The most notable difference seems to be her portrayal as a tomboy: playful, and energetic. During her debut episode, Sassette liked playing usual boy games, like marbles, climbing trees, digging for earthworms, arm wrestling, and even mud playing.
She does have a girly side; however, she likes dressing up and playing with her doll Smurfy Lou.
Sassette also occasionally comes up with new plans that she uses to make the lives of her fellow adult Smurfs easier, such as hosting the "Mr. Smurf Contest", so that Smurfette could choose which Smurf to be her date to the Harvest Moon Ball.
Origins
People who never heard of Sassette always questioned where she came from, as they thought there was only supposed to be one female Smurf. Some incorrectly assume she was an offspring of the Smurfs.
Comic Book Version
In the comic adaptation of her origin story, Sassette was given her name by the Smurflings without any in-universe explanation resulting from her behavior, which was chatty.
She was really created by the Smurflings, in attempt to cheer up a sad Smurfette so that she wouldn't be lonely anymore, but due to their small size, they only gathered enough blue clay to make a Smurfette that was two apples tall (Or the size of a Smurfling).
Unlike her origins in the 1981 TV series, she didn't require any plastic surgery nor further potions or magic to change her appearance.

The version of Sassette's creation is almost the same as her comic book version, except Sassette started out as extremely rude; she actually got her name when Hefty pointed out how "Sassy" she was and then Painter called her a "Sassette". She was splashed with the "Smurfy" potion though.

Smurflings
In General
In the 1981 TV series, Sassette had a really rocky start with the Smurflings because she got on their (mostly Snappy's) nerves. They warmed up to her though, and she became another close friend.

Sassette now plays an instrument too.
She spends most of her time with the Smurflings. Nat is the nicest to her, even when she first appeared. Slouchy didn't really seem to mind her. Snappy, though, is another story. The two bicker a lot, but they are also pretty close (Ex. Outside of the Smurfling group, Sassette and Snappy are always playing with each other).
Smurfette
Sassette is close with Smurfette, the two being like sisters, despite their contrasting interests prior to Smurfs: The Lost Village (which does not feature Sassette). Smurfette does her best to cheer Sassette up, and Sassette wants everything in Smurfette's life to go smoothly.
Smurfette loves to teach Sassette about topics she is confused on, such as claiming that a Smurfette can sense when romance is in the air in "Educating Bigmouth". Sassette in turn defends Smurfette from Nat in "Kow-Tow, We Won't Bow".
However, the two have occasionally gotten into bumps in their relationship, usually happening when Sassette accidentally breaks Smurfette's promise in "Smurfette's Rose" and is jealous and mad when Sassette gets to be queen for the float party in "To Coin A Smurf". Despite the fights, Smurfette always apologizes for any mistakes she has made to Sassette.
Papa Smurf
Sassette sings with the other Smurflings and Papa Smurf.
Sassette also finds a close father figure with Papa Smurf, who she calls "Pappy". When not learning about things from Smurfette, she is often educated by Papa Smurf, who helps her understand things that she messes up.
Gargamel
Sassette also likes Gargamel much more than the other Smurfs, thinking of him as her 'father' during her debut episode. She calls him "Pappy Gargamel" at some points, though after "Smurf On The Run", her affections for the wizard began to disappear when by holding the Topaz of Truth he unwittingly revealed to Sassette his true evil nature.
Grandpa Smurf
Grandpa Smurf has a grandfather-granddaughter relationship with Sassette, who affectionately calls him "Grampy". Sassette is often the Smurfling with the most faith in Grandpa Smurf, rushing to his defense when her fellow Smurfs treat him unfairly, such as "The Royal Drum" and serves as Grandpa Smurf's main Smurf who motivates him.
Grandpa Smurf often comforts Sassette when she is feeling down, such as "Swashbuckling Smurfs", where he helps her get through time traveling and admits that Grandpa Smurf is one of the best Smurfs she has met. In both "Head Over Hogatha" and "The Gallant Smurf", Grandpa Smurf saves Sassette from danger and in the former episode, Sassette rushes to get a good gift for him.
Denisa
Sassette also becomes friends with Lord Balthazar's niece, Denisa. After they save each other's lives from wolves, the two begin to become great friends and stop Gargamel from capturing the other Smurfs.
Sassette trusts Denisa to make good decisions, being suspicious when she wants to be friends with the Grackle Sisters, who make her realize that they are taking her for granite in "Denisa's Slumber Party".

Smurfs' Village
In the game, Sassette has a hut on the Island. The walls are pink and the roof is made of straw. The hut gives out daily XP when it's placed next to Snappy's house or Slouchy's. Her hut costs 30 smurfberries.

Trivia
- Sassette has the most high-pitched of all the Smurf voices.
- Sassette was one of the two Smurflings who appeared in a Smurf Magic Berries cereal commercial; the other one was Snappy.
- Being that she is a magically created Smurf, Sassette has never been a baby Smurf at any point. However, the only magically created Smurf who became a baby is Smurfette in "Smurfy Day Care" and "Smurf Van Winkle".
- In the comics and Smurfs Bubble Story, Sassette has visible freckles. Though they are not drawn in the 1980s cartoon, she is stated to have freckles, as heard in "Shutterbug Smurfs".
- In the 1981 cartoon, Sassette has a pet frog.
- Sassette is the first created Smurf that was going to explode and kill everyone, though she herself didn't know that.
- In her debut episode on the 1981 cartoon show, Sassette has a terrible singing voice. However, her singing voice got better in later episodes, presumably learning to sing offscreen.
- In both the comics and 1981 TV series, Sassette appears the most out of her fellow Smurflings.

- Sassette and the other Smurflings do not have many human friends, since they never met Johan and Peewit.
- In Smurfette's debut (in the original comics), almost every Smurf was nasty with Smurfette, due to her unappealing looks. Because of that, Papa Smurf berates them and they all regret it. If this misfortune had happened to Sassette, it likely would have been worse.
