Clumsy Smurf (original French name Schtroumpf Bêta or Schtroumpf Maladroit) is one of the main characters of the Smurfs cartoon show, who has appeared on the show throughout its entire run. He is the most underestimated out of all the Smurfs. Every time there is a competition of some sorts, Clumsy is not considered to be a good player due to him always dropping or breaking things. Clumsy's catch phrases are "Whoops!", "Golly", "Gosh", and "Gee."

Character

Clumsy Cartoon

His usual appearance, blur, loose, confused.

Clumsy can be easily identified by his Southern Accent or how he trips and falls. He is still mostly identified by his loose cap and pants - he is a sloppy Smurf. He is also the Smurf who hangs out with Brainy the most. He's basically everyone's sweetheart Smurf in the village!

Personality

Clumsy is sensitive, at times, and would even start crying a bit if the other Smurfs don't want him on their team.

As his name implies he can be described as clumsy, klutzy, hapless, and accident prone. An example is in The Purple Smurfs when he accidentally lassos himself when attempting to lasso a Purple Smurf.

Clumsy isn't usually shown to be as fast as the other Smurfs. In the intro sequence (the ones where the Smurfs run away from Gargamel), it takes Clumsy longer to get around the words "THE SMURFS".

Role in the Village

Being the klutz of the village, Clumsy doesn't really have a job. He does help out whenever the Smurfs are building or fixing something, but there are times this could end up with big trouble (Like someone's leg or arm getting broken).

Interests

Clumsy's main interest is collecting rocks. He has boxes full of them in his house. There are some episodes where he is even seen looking for rocks and even claims that he has a lucky one. He also gave a box of rocks to Nanny during "A House For Nanny".

Clumsy also has a fondness for cute animals.

Relationships

Clumsy and Brainy.

Clumsy's best friend, over all, is Brainy Smurf. Despite his rather vain personality, Brainy does think of Clumsy as a good friend (Even though he won't admit it). Clumsy and Brainy are often paired up when they have to do something in the village, and whenever Brainy has a scheme, Clumsy is his partner. Despite their friendship, though, Clumsy is never picked to be Brainy's partner in competitions (This is probably due to Brainy wanting the winnings for himself).

Speaking of competitions, Clumsy is always considered to be the last one to get to the finish line or to never make it at all. Clumsy has proven that he could win, and there are times where he actually saves the Smurfs from getting caught by Gargamel with his klutziness.

Clumsy, like many other Smurfs, also has a shy crush on Smurfette. Whenever something comes up that involves taking Smurfette out for a date, he is one of the many to ask first. Clumsy also wants to impress Smurfette at times. Smurfette is the nicest to Clumsy, only minding his klutziness if he breaks something of hers or gets her clothes dirty. During competitions, like the Smurfic Games, Smurfette will take Clumsy as her partner, not caring about winning or losing. Clumsy cares for Smurfette when he apologized to her in "My Smurfy Valentine" because he felt sorry that she never found her true love, making her kiss him. At many times during the 2011 film, Smurfette seems to care for Clumsy.

He is also known for becoming best friends with creatures who are as clumsy as he is. He became good friends with a clumsy bird called the Hopping crane, as well as a Pussywillow Pixie named Pansy and a clumsy little monkey which he called "Chimpy." In the 2011 Smurfs movie, Grace Winslow confided with Clumsy that she too was accident-prone until she met her husband Patrick, and encouraged him that he can be more than just his name.

Smurfic Games

During "The Smurfic Games", Clumsy was unwanted by the two teams of East and West, so Smurfette took him as part of their own team with him as the captain, and Hefty and Handy leading East and West respectively,

After 9 events, each team was tied with 3 games won, much to the shock of fellow Smurfs since the Clumsy and Smurfette team were the underdogs.

The tiebreaker then came, the Smurfathon. When Jokey exploded his gift to start, Clumsy just closed his ears, letting Hefty and Handy get a head start. Both if them were then caught in a mishap along the way, and Hefty saved Handy, thus allowing Clumsy to unknowingly overtake. In the end, Clumsy won the Smurfic Games, being the first and last Smurf to do so, strangely.

The Smurfs

In the 2011 Smurfs movie, Clumsy is one of the few Smurfs that travel through time to modern-day New York City. He is accidentally taken to the Winslows' apartment by Patrick Winslow and tries to escape their dog Elway by hiding in the bathroom. Patrick's wife Grace rescued Clumsy from being in the toilet, though his presence scared her at first. Eventually the other Smurfs find him in the apartment and reason with them to let them stay with them long enough in order to open the portal back to their own time with the next blue moon. However, Papa Smurf, seeing Clumsy in a vision seemingly failing to catch a dragon wand, has Clumsy stay behind in the apartment with Grace while the others go look for a "stargazer". Clumsy only goes along with Grace in order to retrieve the other Smurfs who are holed up in Patrick's office, but upon reaching the FAO Schwarz toy store they depart and head inside to search for the "stargazer". Inside the store, Clumsy is mistaken for a toy by some girls and is brought to the cashier in order to scan him for a price tag.

Eventually he is rescued and brought back home to the Winslows' apartment where he is told to stay put a second time. However, when Papa Smurf was captured by Gargamel in the magic book store, he told the other Smurfs with him not to come back for him, but since Papa Smurf never told Clumsy to do the same, Clumsy decided that he was going to rescue Papa Smurf, which encouraged the other Smurfs to do the same. During the final battle with Gargamel and the dragon wand, Clumsy leaps to grab it as it falls from Gutsy Smurf's grasp, but as he seemingly fails to grab it, he succeeds in doing so and saves the other Smurfs present by blasting Gargamel with the wand and causing him to land in a pile of garbage bags. By the end of the movie, Papa Smurf expresses how proud he is of Clumsy.

The Smurfs 2

Clumsy Smurf appears in The Smurfs 2 as one of the main characters, traveling to present-day Paris with Papa Smurf, Grouchy, and Vanity to rescue Smurfette from Gargamel and the Naughties.

He often trips, so you have tap him to get Clumsy back up and he will reward you 180 XP (you tap him when there is a red exclamation point above his head). Although if you don't tap him fast enough, he will not gives the player any XP. His hut costs 30 smurfberries.
